Capstone Copper ist ein kanadisches Bergbauunternehmen, das sich auf die Erkundung und Erschließung von Kupfervorkommen in Nordamerika konzentriert. Der Minenplan in Cozamin basiert auf einer Kombination aus Hochbau-Untertagebau und Gewinnung mittels Auffüllungsverfahren. Der Minenplan sieht vor, von 2023 bis 2030 10,2 Millionen Tonnen Erz zu verwenden (nur Mineralreserven sind im Plan enthalten). Der Bau der neuen Rückständigenzementanlage wurde Ende 2022 abgeschlossen und wird 2023 hochgefahren. Ungefähr die Hälfte der filtrierten Rückstände wird mit Zement vermischt, um eine Paste zu bilden, die unter Tage gepumpt wird und als Grubenverfüllung dient, um eine erhöhte Kupfererzausbeute zu ermöglichen.
